Job Opportunity: Pulmonary Function Technologist
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:45 AM - 5:15 PM)
Schedule: No weekends, no on-call; holidays required as scheduled; floating may be required
Job Description
- Work as a Respiratory Therapist specializing in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) during day shifts.
- Perform full pulmonary testing studies including exercise testing and bronchoscopy support.
- Patient population includes all age ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Patient diagnoses primarily cardio and pulmonary conditions.
- Average daily visits: 25 across 6 testing rooms.
- Use specialized equipment such as Vyntus/Jaeger pulmonary function testing devices.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year.
- At least 2 years of experience in a pulmonary function testing (PFT) setting with strong PFT skills.
- Bronchoscopy experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam, drug testing, immunizations, and various health screenings must be current and completed within specified timeframes.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusion lists are required.
- Competency exams and certifications must be up to date as applicable.
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs (with specific guidelines for pediatric or trauma assignments).
- Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start.
- Employment application and work history verification required.
Patient Care Environment
- Work involves supporting cardio and pulmonary patients with a variety of diagnoses.
- No weekend or on-call duties, but holiday coverage may be required.
- Floating to other units may be necessary.
