Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7:30 AM), holidays as needed
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
Floating: May float between service lines and to sister facilities using the same equipment and policies
Job Description
- Adult Respiratory Therapist role in a high acuity environment
- Work settings include Adult ICU, Stepdown, and Floorcare
- Must have experience in adult critical care
- EPIC and Cerner experience preferred
- No on-call required
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- License: Current South Carolina RRT license required at time of start
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- RRT credential required
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RRT
- Adult critical care experience required
- First-time travelers NOT accepted
- Other:
- Must be able to work in a high acuity adult care environment
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Facility Highlights

Important Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
- Open to block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation
- Fit testing with specific N95 masks required annually
- Radiation badge not required for this role
- Floating to other units/facilities may be required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history and multiple registries
- Verification of education and licensure (primary source verification required)
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules before starting
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
Additional Notes for Candidates
- COVID-19 vaccination is highly preferred but not mandatory; declination form required if not vaccinated
- All required certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date
- Must provide proof of 2 clinical references
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Must complete all required competency exams and safety acknowledgments
