Description
Job Opportunity: Pediatric Echo Tech
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Echocardiography (Cardiology / Radiology)
- Typical daily caseload: 4-10 patients
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with staggered start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Floating between multiple locations within a local radius of 60 miles
- Guaranteed hours with allowance for 1 shift off every 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pediatric Echo Tech (Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics), including pediatric echocardiography experience within the last year
- Extensive knowledge of complex pediatric heart disease and defects, with proficiency in scanning pediatric echocardiograms and complex congenital heart defects
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Registered Pediatric Sonographer credential required:
- ARDMS with PE certification or
- CCI with RCCS certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Licensure
- Must have an active, unencumbered state license appropriate for Pediatric Echo Tech in South Carolina
- Pending state license accepted if all credentials are in place at start
- Primary source verification of license required
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- PALS (AHA)
- NRP (AHA/AAP)
- Competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if previously positive
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Background & Documentation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Employment verification of last 3 clinical employers
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Social Security card, driver’s license/state ID, and I-9 documentation required
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start
- Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
Additional Notes
- Travelers will be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- No radiation badge required for this pediatric echo tech position
This position is ideal for pediatric echo techs with at least 2 years of experience, who are proficient in complex congenital heart defects and pediatric echocardiography, and who hold the appropriate certifications and licensure. First-time travel healthcare workers are welcome to apply.
