Radiation Therapist Travel Job – Asheville, North Carolina

Position: Radiation Therapist
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Location: Radiation Therapy Department, Cancer Center
  • Equipment:
    • 2 Linear Accelerators (Elekta Versa HD)
    • 1 CT Simulator (GE Lightspeed)
    • 1 CyberKnife (Accuray M6)
  • Staff: 9 radiation therapists
  • Shifts:
    • Day shift only (8.5 hours, scheduled between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM)
    • Night shifts are rare but may extend past 6:00 PM depending on patient volume
  • Patient Ratios:
    • 2.5 therapists per linear accelerator
    • 2 therapists per CyberKnife
    • 2 therapists per simulator
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Mosaiq

Typical Procedures

  • Daily treatments including:
    • Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
    • Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
    • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
    • 3D treatments on linear accelerators
  • If working on Infinity 1 machine: Perform Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DiBH) on CRad

Required Skills and Experience

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist or Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • ARRT (T) Certification (Radiation Therapist)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Experience with Elekta linear accelerators
  • Radiation Therapist experience

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • ARRT (T) Certification (Radiation Therapist)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Additional Information

  • Floating area includes CT Simulation
  • Dress code: Navy blue top with navy blue or gray bottoms
  • No weekends or on-call duties required
  • Ideal candidate traits: Good communication skills, self-starter, high energy, positive attitude, and teamwork-oriented
