Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Dialysis

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule:

    • 3x12 hour shifts, nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
    • Rotating weekends
    • Float required between multiple campuses
    • Call required on Sunday nights only
  • Patient Population:

    • Patients with end stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, metabolic imbalances, dialysis access problems, or drug overdoses requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
    • Acutely ill patients with medical-surgical or critical care diagnoses
    • Apheresis patients with neurologic, renal, or hematologic/oncologic diseases
  • Department Details:

    • Provides hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments 24/7
    • 9 bays plus 1 isolation room for Hepatitis B patients
    • Equipped with telemetry monitoring and central cardiac monitoring station
    • Nursing care provided by RNs supported by certified hemodialysis technicians and nursing secretary
    • Treatments for unstable ICU patients performed bedside
    • Use of Tablo Dialysis Devices, Baxter Amia PD Devices, Spectra Optia Apheresis Devices

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Completion and acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing requirements, including EKG and medication exams
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Information

  • Work Environment:

    • Fast-paced dialysis unit with critically ill patients
    • Requires flexibility, punctuality, and adherence to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
    • Floating between campuses and weekend rotations expected
  • Testing & Compliance:

    • Pass/fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
    • EPIC system testing may be required depending on unit
    • Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
    • Background check includes multi-level criminal and education verifications
  • Health & Safety:

    • Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 40 days of start
    • Immunizations and titers must be up to date or medically/religiously exempted with proper documentation
    • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)
