Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Nights)

Location: Centreville, Illinois

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) manages and coordinates nursing care activities during client hospitalization in behavioral health. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. The RN directs and is accountable for other personnel involved in client care and maintains professional nursing judgment. This role involves working with clients aged 18 years and older.

Essential Functions

• Organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients.
• Direct others in healthcare delivery and provide direct client care as needed.
• Communicate effectively, requiring regular talking and hearing.
• Stand for 4-6 hours during shifts.
• Provide nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions on the unit.
• Make nursing assignments appropriate to skill levels.
• Implement physician orders accurately and promptly.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications per policy.
• Comply with infection control policies and safety procedures.
• Coordinate and provide emergency care as needed.
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and departmental meetings.
• Evaluate personnel performance and recommend actions.
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security of clients.
• Conduct group therapies and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Monitor clients continuously for safety and harmful contraband.
• Adapt to changes in work assignments and environment.
• Support organizational goals and participate as a team member.
• Maintain good body mechanics and assist clients with lifting up to 25 pounds.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
