Job Opportunity: Cardiac/Telemetry Intermediate Care Unit Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Cardiac/Telemetry Intermediate Care Unit (PCU).
- Comfortable and competent with:
- Vasoactive IV drips
- BiPAP, CPAP, AVAPS, Heated High Flow respiratory support
- Post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy
- Endotool/insulin drips
- Management of chest tubes, temporary pacers
- Patient population includes:
- Post cardiovascular procedures (CABG, valve replacement, Watchman, TAVR)
- Congestive heart failure (CHF)
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)/Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS)
- Cardio-renal syndrome
- Respiratory failure
- Arrhythmias
Shift: 4 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
On-call: Not required
Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
Block Schedule: Not accommodated
Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
Pending License: Accepted
Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Comfortable and competent with:
- Vasoactive IV drips
- Endotool/insulin drips
- BiPAP, CPAP, AVAPS respiratory support
- Post-operative care for CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy
- Management of temporary pacers and chest tubes
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year required
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing within 1 year (9 panel acceptable)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific online preorientation modules within 72 hours of assignment start
- Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Annual skills checklist required
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
Notes
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Guaranteed hours subject to cancellation policy (client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty)
- Parking available free for night shift; fees apply for day/evening shifts
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs comfortable with intermediate care and complex cardiac patient management, seeking a travel contract in Minnesota.
