Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Muncie, Indiana

Job Description

• Floating required to Progressive Care unit
• 18-bed open critical care unit
• Staffing ratio typically 1:2; may be 1:1 for high acuity patients
• Patient population includes respiratory failure, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, surgical cases
• No ECMO, transplant, neurotrauma/neurosurgery cases
• Cardiac surgery patients staffed by permanent nurses for first 36 hours
• Unit uses IABP and CVVHD but not required for travel nurses

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Arterial line management
• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation
• Titration of cardiac drips
• Care and ventilator management of ventilated patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Indiana
• Licenses and certifications must be current and in hand to submit
• Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard ICU RN experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
• Background checks including 7-year work/living history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
• Drug screening (10-panel, negative result within 12 months)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TB test within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment with supervisory titles

Shift & Assignment Details

• 16-week assignments available
• Floating to Progressive Care required

Notes

• Indiana RNs will not be allowed to work at these facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including Endoscopy, IR, PACU, Cath Lab, SDS)
• No ECMO or transplant cases for travel nurses
• On-site fit testing available only as a last resort with limitations
