Description

Job Opportunity: Wound Care Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Location

  • Baltimore, Maryland

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Days, Monday to Friday (Block schedule)
  • 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM)
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • No weekends required
  • On-call not required
  • Floating may be required within the specialty to a nearby campus if needed

Specialty

  • Registered Nurse (Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse - WOCN preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required
  • First-time travelers accepted with strong skills/experience
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Registered Nurse license in Maryland
  • Wound Care Certification (WCC) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • WOCN certification preferred

Patient Population

  • All age groups

Patient Diagnoses

  • Pressure injuries
  • Chronic and acute wounds
  • Ostomies

Unit Details

  • Part of wound care team rounds on 4 to 5 units daily
  • Average patient census: approximately 15 patients per day

Additional Requirements and Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations including TDAP, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (or approved exemptions)
  • Drug screening required (9-panel or 12-panel depending on location)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions list
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years
  • Photo for badge with specific background requirements
  • Various competency exams and certifications as applicable (e.g., medication/pharmacology competency, dysrhythmia/EKG competency)
  • Compliance with facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, dress code, and standards of conduct

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum of 1 year of wound care experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
