Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
- Shift: Days (7 AM - 7 PM), Manager accepts either 3x12 or 4x12 shifts
- Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, may float within scope to similar units including Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed
- PCU Experience: Strongly preferred to support unit flexibility
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, with at least 2 years of Med/Surg/Telemetry RN experience
- Med/Surg experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of all assigned orientation and compliance modules prior to start date
- Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Call-out policy: After 2 call-outs without documented medical reason, contract may be canceled
- Local candidates within 60 miles considered
Facility & Work Environment
- Short-term acute care hospital
- 97 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Parking: No cost
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9) and valid driver’s license/state ID
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender registry, and employment history for past 7 years
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as applicable
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (or declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Clinical references (2) and employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist updated annually
Orientation & Onboarding
- Modules and orientation materials provided prior to start; must be completed before orientation
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, frontal view)
- Various facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements must be signed prior to start
Notes
- Radiation badge required only for OR RNs and CSTs (not applicable for this role)
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are flexible and able to float to related units as needed.
