Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Must be able to float within scope to all hospital areas, including labor and delivery
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (60-mile radius)
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Critical Care Experience: Recent critical care experience required
  • Radiation Badge: Not required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including recent experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Recent critical care experience
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Complete application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Background check including:
    • SSN trace
    • County and state criminal checks (including outside South Carolina)
    • Sex offender registry
    • National criminal check
    • FACIS 3 and international searches
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Respirator clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use via RespSafety questionnaire

Orientation & Facility Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
  • Signed acknowledgments: assignment, code of conduct, confidentiality, system user agreement, employee info, and HIPAA confidentiality
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
  • Facility may assign to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

  • No locals accepted for this travel contract
  • Facility uses Epic for charting
  • Free parking available
  • Must be prepared to float to various hospital units including labor and delivery

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs with recent critical care experience and prior travel contract experience who are licensed in South Carolina and hold all required certifications.
