Registered Nurse - Ortho
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other week (EOW)
- Holiday coverage: One holiday and one evening shift during the holiday period required
- No call required
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
- Specialty: Orthopedic and Trauma nursing
- Focus on pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients, including elective and trauma cases
- Experience with total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, as well as orthopedic trauma
- Use of safe patient handling equipment and orthopedic devices such as CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, etc.
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of orthopedics nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Trauma nursing experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (MAB)
- Pass/fail competency testing including EKG and medication/pharmacology exams
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidates must complete a health history form and upload prior to clearance
- Facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed, including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
- EPIC test required with 2 attempts allowed; additional attempts may be granted at manager discretion
- Color vision testing required
- Some certifications may be preferred or required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for certain units)
- Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only) and must be completed in North Carolina prior to start
