Occupational Therapist
Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Long Term
Shift: AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients in compliance with licensure standards. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary team to develop patient goals, care plans, and identify barriers to discharge. The therapist provides patient-centered care and educates patients and families on treatment procedures, assistive devices, home programs, and other health-related topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform evaluations and treatments tailored to patient age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders, with proper documentation.
- Educate and orient patients, families, and relevant parties on therapy purposes and procedures.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with other disciplines.
- Monitor program effectiveness and develop new programs as needed.
- Conduct pain assessments and take appropriate actions.
- Obtain and document all required patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial care plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team efforts to develop and document discharge plans.
- Identify significant changes in patient condition and respond accordingly.
- Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) in accordance with state licensure and care standards.
- Perform other duties as needed to support department and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in North Dakota
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience in an outpatient setting
