Registered Nurse - ER I

Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care following established policies and protocols. The nurse maintains skills appropriate to the patient age group served and coordinates patient care within the interdisciplinary team. Patient education is provided to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments including physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; set goals and implement nursing actions accordingly, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of patient deterioration and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions and notifying clinicians.
• Accurately report patient observations and ensure timely interventions or referrals. Complete all incident reports before shift end.
• Maintain communication and provide education to patients and significant others.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient/family education early to optimize understanding.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
• Perform other duties as needed to support department and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with recent ED experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
