Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a specialty in Radiology / Cardiology. This role involves working in adult, pediatric, clinic, hospital, and nuclear cardiology settings. The position requires proficiency with Siemens equipment and performing a variety of nuclear medicine procedures.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ARRT Nuclear Medicine (ARRT N) certification
  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) certification
  • Prior traveler experience (not a first-time traveler)

Work Details

  • Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday (blocked schedule)
  • Call: Rotating nights
  • Weekend: Every 3rd weekend required
  • Ratios: 1:4
  • Float: None
  • Orientation: 40 hours
  • Scrubs: Royal Blue
  • Unit Systems: EPIC and Pyxis

  • Procedures Include:
    • Gastric Emptying
    • HIDA Scan
    • Muga Scan
    • Bone Scan (3 Phase, Limited, Whole Body)
    • Brain Scan (Cerebral Blood Flow)
    • Liver/Spleen Scan (Liver Imaging, Liver Scan-Hemangioma)
    • Lung Scan (DTPA Aerosol, Perfusion, Ventilation/Perfusion)
    • Renal Flow (Flow/Function, Renal/Perfusion, Three Phase, With Lasix)
    • Shunt Studies (Abdominal, Ventricular)
    • Thyroid Studies (Cancer Survey, I-123 Uptake Scan, Uptake Scan)
    • Tumor Localization (Limited, Whole Body)
    • SPECT (Bone, Brain, Liver, Renal, Sestamibi parathyroid scan)
    • Myocardial (Adenosine Infusion, Exercise/Rest-Multiple, Pharmacological Stress)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous charge experience
  • Trauma Level I and II experience

Required Background & Compliance

  • Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually if past positive TB)
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with facility-specific declination if applicable)
  • TB screening and chest x-ray as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Various state-specific registry and exclusion list checks

Required Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for ER and Behavioral Health nurses

Additional Information

  • Candidates must complete a competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties
  • Multiple facility-specific orientation and compliance modules required prior to start
  • Badge photo and confidentiality agreements required
  • Candidates must complete annual compliance and education training modules
  • References and performance evaluations may be required based on prior work history

This position offers a comprehensive clinical experience in nuclear medicine with a focus on cardiology and radiology procedures, requiring seasoned professionals with prior travel experience and strong technical skills.
