Registered Nurse - Ortho and Neuro Unit
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Orthopedic and Neurology
- Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedic, Neuro
- Unit Size: 35 beds
- Shift: Days (36 or 48 hour option)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Float Requirement: Yes, to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Block Scheduling: Case by case
- Documentation System: EPIC (experience within last 6 months required)
- Telemetry monitored in a centralized unit
- Free floating charge nurse
- Support staff available: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse
- Scrub Color: Any, no logos
- Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system (within the last 6 months)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
Additional Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification (highest level) required
- State license primary source verification required
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Color blindness testing required
- Safety and orientation acknowledgements required
- References and work history verification as per policy
- Local travel radius rule applies (must live 50+ miles away)

This position offers a day shift with flexible hour options and requires a nurse comfortable with orthopedic and neurological patient care in a medical-surgical setting. Prior travel experience is not required.
