Description

Registered Nurse - Ortho and Neuro Unit

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Orthopedic and Neurology
  • Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedic, Neuro
  • Unit Size: 35 beds
  • Shift: Days (36 or 48 hour option)
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Float Requirement: Yes, to units of equal or lesser acuity
  • Block Scheduling: Case by case
  • Documentation System: EPIC (experience within last 6 months required)
  • Telemetry monitored in a centralized unit
  • Free floating charge nurse
  • Support staff available: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse
  • Scrub Color: Any, no logos
  • Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system (within the last 6 months)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency

Additional Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (highest level) required
  • State license primary source verification required
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Safety and orientation acknowledgements required
  • References and work history verification as per policy
  • Local travel radius rule applies (must live 50+ miles away)

This position offers a day shift with flexible hour options and requires a nurse comfortable with orthopedic and neurological patient care in a medical-surgical setting. Prior travel experience is not required.
