Registered Nurse - ICU/PCU (Night Shift)

Location: State College, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to critically ill patients across the pediatric to geriatric age spectrum. Responsibilities include patient assessment, development and implementation of care plans, and evaluation of nursing interventions based on AACN standards. Recognize and respond to cardiac arrhythmias and life-threatening emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments.
• Prioritize patient problems and needs based on actual or potential threats.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning and referrals.
• Manage life-threatening complications to maintain airway, ventilation, hemodynamic stability, and heart rhythm.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills in critical care nursing, including trends, scientific advances, biomedical equipment, and ethics.
• Complete mandatory education and participate in annual competency evaluations.
• Assist with temporary pacemaker insertion and ambulance transport as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and PCU (Progressive Care Unit), including at least 2 years as a Progressive Care Unit nurse with experience within the last year.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Certification or experience with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
