Respiratory Therapist - North Dakota (Fargo)

Job Summary

Provide respiratory therapy assessment, therapeutic intervention, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or related complications. Work primarily in a large hospital setting with multiple specialized units including adult ICU, NICU, pediatric ICU, emergency room, and general floors.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Dakota
• Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• ICU experience
• Experience working in a facility with 300+ beds
• BLS issued by American Heart Association

Job Duties

• Respiratory therapy assessments and protocols
• Arterial punctures and blood gas analysis
• Ventilator and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) therapy management
• Medication delivery and airway clearance
• Assist with intubations, bedside tracheostomy placement, bronchoscopy, tracheostomy changes, decannulation, and extubations
• Participate in emergency response teams and ICU rounds
• Patient intrahospital transport

Work Environment

• Rotating shifts with 8- and 12-hour shifts, primarily 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Weekend or straight night shifts may be considered
• Work alongside a team with a charge therapist on each shift; multiple therapists per shift in adult and pediatric units
• May float to other campuses within the city as needed

Orientation & Training

• Lab orientation with RT education staff
• Preceptor shifts with unit respiratory therapists

Additional Information

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills essential for collaboration with healthcare team
• Facility uses Epic EMR and various respiratory therapy equipment
• Clinicians must badge in/out at the facility
• Scrub color: Steel Gray
