Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Acute Care
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Department: Medical Acute Care Unit
- Unit Size: 20 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day shift: 1:4 or 1:5
- Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
- Patient Type: General medical unit
- Telemetry: Some patients on telemetry with central monitor techs; bedside RNs do not read strips
- Respiratory Equipment: No ventilators on unit
- Support Staff:
- Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) 24/7
- PCT Ratios: 1:6 or 1:7 (days), 1:10 (nights)
- Charge Nurse present 24/7 (may take patient assignment if short staffed)
- House Supervisor available 24/7
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 3 out of 6 holidays per year
- Call/Standby: Depends on staffing needs
- Floating: Travel RNs float first; otherwise rotation based on last floated
- Orientation: 3 days unit-specific orientation
- Dress Code: No specific scrub color preference; scrubs not provided
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or proof of application in process
- BLS (AHA) certification
- General medical nursing experience required
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must comply with drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen

- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Preference for candidates with general medical or surgical experience
- Charge nurse typically does not have patient assignments unless short staffed
