Job Description

• Work in a fast-paced, high acuity Cath Lab environment.
• Daily case volume ranges from 24 to 40 cases.
• Patient population: Adults only (no pediatrics).
• Procedures include diagnostic and interventional Cath Lab cases such as RHC, LHC, STEMI/NSTEMI, CTO, valvuloplasty, Cardiomems, biopsies, atherectomies, staged PCI, IABP, Impella; ECMO experience preferred.
• Peripheral diagnostic and interventional cases, including some fistulograms.
• Hybrid cases experience preferred but not required (AAA grafts, thoracic grafts, clips, TAVRs, Watchman).

Patient Ratios

• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Required Certifications

• For Registered Nurses (RN): BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred.
• For Radiologic Technologists (RTR): BLS, ACLS, ARRT(R), state license; RCIS preferred.

Skills Required

• Cath Lab and peripheral case experience.
• RN: Conscious sedation, managing drips.
• RTR: Scrubbing and panning.
• Hybrid experience preferred but not mandatory.

Orientation & Scheduling

• One week of orientation provided.
• Department staffed 24/7.
• Shifts vary between 8 and 12 hours (e.g., 1200-2030 or 0800-2030), with possible combinations to meet weekly hours.
• Weekend rotation: Travelers may occasionally work weekends, usually on call.
• Call schedule: 7 days of call every 2-3 months (Friday to Friday), with a 30-minute response time.
• Call hours are from end of shift until 0600 the following morning.
• Time off: 7 days approved.
• Holiday work: Typically not required for travelers.

Support & Environment

• Housekeeping handles room turnover.
• Storeroom staff manage supplies; rooms stocked by night shift Cath Lab employees.
• Daytime transporter available (0630-2000).
• Receptionist/HUC present (0600-2000).
• Charge nurse/Lead Tech available and generally stays out of cases.
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 to manage vents if needed.
• Hospitalist and Cardiology teams available 24/7.
• Critical Response Team available for codes.

Equipment & Systems

• Electronic Health Record: EPIC.
• Infusion pumps: Alaris.
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis.
• Imaging: GE C-arms, Volcano, St. Jude, Alphavac, Angiovac, EKOS, Anari (experience with some preferred but not required).
• Hemodynamic monitoring: GE Pruka (Maclab).
• PACS: Fuji and ProSolv.
• IABP: Maquet.

Additional Information

• No floating to other units.
• Facility enforces a fatigue policy: no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
• Scrub color provided.
