Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU for ER Holding Area

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

Seeking a PCU RN to provide care for patients boarded in the ER holding area. This role requires a stepdown skillset suitable for the ER holding unit. The position involves caring for patients with cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care diagnoses.


Required Qualifications

  • Active Georgia or Compact RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
  • Minimum of 2 years recent PCU nursing experience OR
    • 1 year PCU experience plus 1+ years experience in Telemetry, ER, or ICU
  • Must have successfully completed at least 1 previous travel assignment
  • References should be from recent assignments

Work Details

  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4-5 (adjusted for acuity)
  • RN responsibilities include reading and saving telemetry strips (Spacelabs monitors)
  • Respiratory Therapy available 24/7; RT handles ventilators and breathing treatments
  • X-ray and CT available in ER with dedicated techs for transport
  • No phlebotomy performed by RNs in the ER
  • Separate holding area and psych/seclusion rooms available
  • Security present in ER 24/7
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs
  • Department-specific orientation during the first week
  • Shift: 12-hour nights

Scheduling

  • Weekend requirement: At least 6 weekend days/nights in a 6-week schedule (approximately every other weekend)
  • Holiday coverage based on department needs
  • No call, standby, or floating requirements

This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs with prior travel experience looking to work in a specialized ER holding environment.
