Description

Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position may float between units, including outpatient surgical center.
  • On-call required to meet department needs; may include weeknights or weekends.
  • Weekends required (call only).
  • No block schedules required.
  • Expected nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1.
  • Special requirements: Proficient in circulating pediatric, ENT, and plastic surgery cases.
  • 48-hour shifts are not approved.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatrics experience, with pediatrics experience within the last year
  • Experience in ENT surgery
  • Experience in plastic surgery
  • Proficient in circulating pediatric surgery cases
  • Proficient in circulating ENT surgery cases
  • Proficient in circulating plastic surgery cases
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
    • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • NURSYS verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP license

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years. Must be updated annually.
  • Education verification required for nursing degree.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination form.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
    • COVID vaccine or declination.
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
  • Fit mask test required for travel nurses, updated annually.

Additional Requirements

  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting. Must be from supervisors.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable).
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).
  • Completion of required training modules via LMS platform (WorkRamp), including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for OR and related areas
    • Trauma-informed care modules (effective for new and extended placements)
    • Epic training modules (if applicable)

Work Environment & Scheduling

  • May float to other units or outpatient surgical center.
  • Call shifts may include weeknights and weekends.
  • No block scheduling.
  • 1:1 patient ratio expected.
