Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - PICU
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience for a travel contract position. The role primarily involves working in Labor & Delivery (L&D), PICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), or Pediatrics units with possible floating among these areas based on facility needs.
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Friday through Sunday)
- Every weekend work required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years
Important Notes
- Indiana RN travel restrictions effective 11/30/24 do not apply to Respiratory Therapists.
- Floating to other hospital locations may occur.
- Candidates must confirm comfort with every weekend work requirement before submission.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7-year history, national sex offender registry, and others as required
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency
- Completion of mandatory facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (21 modules for RRTs)
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years), with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Certifications (as applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- NIH Stroke Certification
