Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a fast-paced environment, assessing acute changes in patients.
• Experience with chronic ventilator patients.
• Use and interpretation of EKG rhythm strips required; must pass EKG strip test at orientation.
• Preferred skills include initiating and maintaining cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, and cardizem.
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Floating to other units required.
• Charting system: Epic.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Locals accepted.
• Block scheduling not accommodated.
• Return-to-Office restrictions: 7 days max.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Additional Requirements

• Must be competent in rhythm strip interpretation.
• Must be able to work weekends and float to other units.
• Driver’s license or state ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, sex offender registry, national and federal criminal checks, and education verification.
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
• Fit mask test required within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations and health screenings required within 2 business days of contract signing, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) proof or titers
  • Hepatitis B proof or declination
  • Varicella proof or declination
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start.
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season.
• References: 2 required.
• Employment history verification for the last 7 years.
• Skills checklist for assigned and float units, updated annually.
• Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours).

Notes

• Religious and medical exemption forms for COVID-19 and influenza vaccines must be completed and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date.
• Fingerprinting required only if the candidate’s profession does not require an Illinois state license.
• Candidates must complete all required documentation and verifications timely to avoid delays or removal from the schedule.
