Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift Options:
- Monday to Friday, 4x10 hour shifts (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Monday to Friday, 3x12 hour shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Daily Caseload: 8-12 patients per tech
- On-Call: Yes, call rotation from noon Sunday to 7:00 AM Monday
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, weekend rotation with staff (4 hours each on Saturday and Sunday, 8 AM to noon)
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
- Block Schedule: Possible with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment as an Echo Technologist
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Certification through ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS, RCCS)
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital setting
- Total staffed beds: 286
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Navy or Seal Blue
- Parking: Free
- Hurricane season (June - November) may require emergency response team participation
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, Social Security Card, Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year history with multiple searches (SSN trace, state and national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS, etc.)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days
- Education verification and transcripts/diploma preferred
- Certifications must be current and valid (no certificates expiring within 30 days of start)
- State license verification (South Carolina license required)
- NURSYS verification for applicable licenses
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination proof
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination or declination
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Physical exam updated annually, including specialized physical assessment for sterile processing if applicable
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before start
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
Additional Notes
- Candidates cannot start without their radiation badge; processing may take 5-7 days
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Must complete all required modules and documentation prior to orientation or risk being sent home
