Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General

Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced OR Registered Nurse to work in a large acute care hospital with 25 OR suites and 75 to 100 cases per day on average. The role involves circulating nurse duties including patient care in the operative setting, sterile prepping, catheter insertion, opening sterile supplies, positioning patients, documentation in electronic records, and operating room equipment setup and use.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Registered Nurse (RN) with North Dakota or Compact license
  • Certifications: BLS Certification required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years recent OR RN experience (higher years of experience requirement applied)
    • Experience in a large hospital (250+ beds) with level 1 trauma status
    • Experience working in an acute facility with 15 or more OR suites (outpatient center experience not accepted)
    • Experience with general surgical cases including GYN, Urology, laparoscopic procedures
    • Experience with robotics, DaVinci preferred
    • Some experience with Neuro/Ortho procedures and navigation
    • Strong general and ENT surgical experience
    • Pediatric (level 2) and ophthalmology experience are a plus

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Shift: 8-hour days, possibly 10-hour days
  • Rotating PM shifts with all staff
  • Must stay late as needed (extension of regular shift, not call back)
  • Call: 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weekends
  • Floating: May occasionally float to other campuses (rare)
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:1
  • Scrub color provided (Ceil Blue)
  • Must badge in and out at the facility

Additional Information

  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Prior employment with this health system requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
  • Must be able to work extra shifts if picked up; repeated call-ins for extra shifts may result in loss of extra shift privileges

  • Computerized charting modeled after EPIC system
  • Accudose, cautery, lasers, laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment
