Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, 0700-1930
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Float within skillset required
  • Triage experience required
  • Must have worked in an ED setting with at least 45,600 visits per year (approx. 125 visits/day) within the past 8 months
  • Cerner EMR experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license valid in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working in an ED setting within the past 8 months with at least 45,600 visits per year (approx. 125 visits/day)
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
    • SPT (Stroke Preparedness Training)
    • CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam
  • Triage experience required
  • Experience with Cerner EMR system

Additional Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state and federal searches
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer documentation
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer documentation
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the past 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required prior to start and updated annually

Work Environment & Expectations

  • High-volume Emergency Department setting
  • Ability to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Must be able to float within skillset to other areas as needed

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs with prior travel experience who meet the certification and competency requirements and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume ED environment.
