Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients undergoing diagnostic scans. This role involves operating imaging equipment such as SPECT/CT scanners to produce images of various body areas (brain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver) for disease detection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, by injection, or inhalation.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure patient comfort and proper positioning.
  • Operate imaging equipment and process diagnostic images on the computer.
  • Maintain detailed records of radiopharmaceutical usage and procedures.
  • Follow safety protocols to protect staff and patients from radiation exposure.
  • Stay current with advances and developments in nuclear medicine.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in New Hampshire
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Physical and Work Environment

  • Ability to perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle stress related to responsibility for quality patient care.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation if disabled.

Additional Information

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
  • The employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.

This position offers an opportunity to work in diagnostic imaging with a focus on nuclear medicine, requiring both technical expertise and patient care skills.
