Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech

Location: Maryville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform outpatient screening and diagnostic mammography exams, including bone density scans.
• Procedures include stereotactic and ultrasound biopsies, magseed and wire localization placements, and post-clip placements.
• Typical caseload: 30-40 exams per day.
• Shift: 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, with variable hours (mostly 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM) and rotating Saturdays approximately every 6th week.
• No on-call required.
• Block scheduling accommodation available Monday-Friday.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in mammography.
• Illinois state license for Mammography (IEMA) required.
• ARRT Mammography certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Registered Breast Ultrasound or Registered Breast Sonographer certification preferred.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.
• Must be comfortable performing post-clip exams.
• DEXA (bone density) experience is a plus but not required.
• No floating outside scope of practice.

Additional Skills & Competencies

• Experience with outpatient mammography procedures including biopsies and localization techniques.
• Ability to handle adult critical care tasks related to respiratory support and medical administration (e.g., suctioning, trach care, CPAP/BiPAP, medication administration related to respiratory treatments).
• Basic EKG and ABG interpretation skills are beneficial.

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute care community hospital setting.
• Typical imaging department dress code: black scrubs.
• Charting system: Meditech experience preferred; training provided if needed.
• Free parking in designated employee lots.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including county, nationwide, sex offender, and employment history verification for the last 7 years.
• Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable).
• Illinois Adult Abuse Registry Search required (can pend at start).
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (American Heart Association) current copies required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask testing within 12 months.
• Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), TB test or chest X-ray, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screening: 9-panel within 1 year of start.
• Flu vaccination strongly recommended but not required.
• COVID-19 medical and religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation.
• Two professional references within 2 years required.
• Resume and 7 years of work history verification required.
• Annual competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.

Notes

• No time off allowed within the first week of assignment.
• Maximum of 10 days of requested time off allowed during the contract.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
