Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVOR
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
Shift:
- 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Day shift: 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM
- Evening shift: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM
On Call/Weekend Requirements:
- 6 calls per 6-week schedule
- One weekend or holiday per 6-week schedule
Float Requirements:
- If no cardiac surgery cases, float to general surgery
Additional Notes:
- Parking is on campus (no shuttle needed after evening shifts)
- Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- SPT certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Minimum 2 years of circulating experience in the operating room
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Ability to float to general surgery if no cardiac surgery cases are available
- Operating Room (OR) circulating experience
- Trauma experience
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher) within 3 years of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements (for cardiac-related units)
- Other unit-specific certifications as required (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, Neonatal Resuscitation, Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
