Job Opportunity: Family Birthing Center Nurse - Nights

Location: Salida, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Birthing Center, you will independently assess and evaluate the health status of laboring mothers and neonates. You will collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans, prioritize needs, provide education, and ensure safe and effective care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases. You will also act as a patient advocate and assist with procedures and emergencies as needed.

Essential Duties

• Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Assist and educate mothers on breastfeeding and infant care.
• Promote wellness for mothers during pregnancy and after delivery through ongoing education.
• Document all patient events and education accurately in medical records.
• Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors.
• Collaborate with nursery nurses in caring for mother/baby couplets.
• Assist physicians with procedures and support nurse management as requested.
• Support other nursing units during emergencies when possible.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in the birthing center.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) nursing experience.
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch regularly.
• Occasional walking and sitting; ability to detect odors.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Visual acuity including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
