Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical/Telemetry (Day Shift)
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Responsible for providing professional nursing care during assigned shifts on the unit. The RN practices independently and collaborates with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes. In the absence of the Unit Manager, the RN reports to the Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and prioritize patient health data using appropriate assessment techniques.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected patient outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized plans of care based on patient needs and current nursing standards.
- Evaluate patient progress and revise care plans as necessary.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and interdisciplinary teams to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Maintain professional nursing standards and comply with relevant statutes and regulations.
- Engage in ongoing education to maintain clinical competency and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Provide leadership by prioritizing and delegating patient care activities appropriately.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Uphold ethical nursing practices, patient confidentiality, and patient advocacy.
- Participate in patient transport outside the facility as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment
- Certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Day shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
This role is ideal for experienced RNs seeking a contract position in a medical/surgical and telemetry setting with day shifts.
