Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with previous Operating Room (OR) circulating experience. This position involves variable 8-hour shifts (07:00-15:30 or 11:30-19:30) with a 1:1 patient ratio. The role requires on-call availability one weeknight per week and one weekend every six weeks (call only). No floating between units.
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Circulating Nurse)
- Required Experience: Minimum 1 year of OR circulating experience (higher experience requirement applies)
- Preferred Experience: OR charge nurse experience preferred
- Travel Experience: No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
Work Environment
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
- Total Staffed Beds: 104
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed on all units
- Expected Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Call-back Response Time: 20 minutes
Schedule & On-Call
- Variable shifts, 8 hours each
- On-call required: 1 weeknight per week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks (call only)
- No block schedules required
- Weekends required only for call
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) circulating experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- NURSYS verification for RN license
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing (annual) required for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
Additional Requirements
- Must comply with facility-specific float policy acknowledgment
- Completion of required WorkRamp training modules prior to start and annually thereafter, including:
- Regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for OR and related areas
- Basics of Trauma Informed Care (required at this facility)
- Epic training modules completion required within orientation period
- Compliance with Washington state-specific background and licensing requirements, including multi-state licensed nurse attestations if applicable
Notes
- No floating between units for this position
- Call-back response time is strictly enforced at 20 minutes
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered
- This is a travel contract position with a 13-week duration
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced OR RN who is comfortable with variable shifts, on-call responsibilities, and working in a Level III Trauma Center environment.
