Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Emergency Room (ER) specialty for a travel contract position. The shift is primarily days from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2+ years of ER experience (Level I Trauma Center, stroke-certified, and STEMI-certified facility experience preferred)
• Comfortable with triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, ventilated patients, trauma, psych holds, and pediatric emergency care
• Experience with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication system
• Ability to float to other units as needed

Patient Ratios

• Approximately 1 nurse to 3.5 patients

Schedule

• Every other or every third weekend required

Licensure & Certifications

• Ohio RN license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics

Orientation & Training

• 36 hours of orientation provided

Required Qualifications

• Background checks including 7-year criminal background check, FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
• Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, unit-specific competency, and dysrhythmia/EKG exam (annual renewal required)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
• Annual acknowledgment of safety manual, dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and annually thereafter

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted; prior travel experience is not required
• Navy scrubs required attire
• Floating to other units may be required
• Parking options available for travelers (details not included here)
• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Room requiring at least 2 years of ER experience, Ohio RN licensure, and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. The role involves working night shifts with a patient ratio of approximately 1:3.5, floating to other units, and completing a comprehensive orientation. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
