Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Weekend shifts and rotating holidays required.
• Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
• May be required to float to different units within the organization.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
• State license verification (State License 1 Verification).
• NURSYS verification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes; results must be current within 1 year.
• Education accreditation confirmation required for nursing degree (accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start; no pending drug screens allowed.
• Required to complete background attestations and compliance forms prior to start.
• Annual background checks not required by client but required by agency.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Unit-specific competency exams and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
• Candidates must comply with dress code and hand hygiene policies.
• Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
• Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually.

Notes

• Parking options available but vary in cost and proximity.
• Floating to different units may require flexibility in skills and certifications.
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs with strong telemetry and EPIC skills who are flexible with unit assignments and available for weekend and holiday shifts.
