Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12 hours
- Shift times include: 1900-0730, 2300-0730, 1500-2330
- Every other weekend rotation, holidays, and 1 on-call shift every 6 weeks
- Total of 36 hours per week
- Position supports multiple hospital locations
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma Center or similar size hospital
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
- Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA)
- RRT credential (NBRC)
- Wisconsin RCP license
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required depending on unit assignment
Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start date, including nationwide and multi-county searches
- Education verification of Respiratory Therapy program graduation
- State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin within 90 days of start
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam and immunization documentation as per facility and state requirements
Immunization & Health Requirements
- Proof of immunizations or immunity for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination form)
- Influenza seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one adult Tdap)
- TB testing (IGRA blood test or two-step skin test) and TB questionnaire annually
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments
Testing & Competency
- Facility-specific telemetry exams may be required if applicable
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication knowledge depending on unit assignment
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no selfies, solid background)
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required (Aya standard)
