Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) experience to provide procedure coverage and 24/7 call coverage for STEMI, emergent, and urgent IR and cardiology procedures. The role involves working day shifts with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 and participating in a weekly rotation covering multiple services.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- Interventional Radiology (IR) experience
- Experience circulating and scrubbing in Cath Lab and IR procedures
- STEMI call-in experience
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Patient Population & Procedures
- Interventional Radiology (85% of cases)
- Invasive cardiology, peripheral vascular, and electrophysiology device implant procedures (15%)
- Expect urgent and emergent cardiology and IR procedures
Equipment & Systems
- MAC Lab, IVUS, Toshiba Angio Lab, Angio Jet, Pneumbra Thrombolysis System, CSI, Atherectomy System, Bovie System for implants, Plasma Blade Cutter, Radiofrequency Ablation Unit, Venous Closure Unit, Sono Site, S2000 Ultrasound Unit
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC
Orientation & Onboarding
- Unit orientation: 16 hours
- Scrubs provided
- Interview required prior to offer
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
- Drug testing within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or documentation of past positive)
- Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Education verification and licensure verification required
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must pass with 82% or higher)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams
- Color blindness testing within 1 year
- Various facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements
- Radiation badge required for Cath Lab staff
Important Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
- Weekly rotation includes procedure coverage for all listed services
- Call team consists of three staff members, including one RN
- Candidates must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation immediately after signing contract
- Candidates must complete required online education and compliance modules prior to start
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with interventional radiology skills who are comfortable with call responsibilities and working in a fast-paced, procedure-heavy environment.
