Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend rotation
  • Holiday rotation
  • No call
  • Floating required as needed between campuses

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Cardiac Telemetry experience required
  • Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Peripheral line care and management, including PICC line management
  • Ability to titrate drips
  • Experience working with PCU nurse-to-patient ratios (1:5)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (must pass with minimum 82%)

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript or diploma as proof of highest education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Physical exam (if applicable)

Orientation and Testing

  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • EPIC test may be required depending on specialty/unit
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Additional Notes

  • Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and floating between units as needed
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
  • Verification of all employment within the last 5 years required

  • Experience working with PCU nurse-to-patient ratios (1:5)
  • Cardiac telemetry experience
  • Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • PICC line management experience
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
  • Successful completion of Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication/pharmacology competency exams
