Description

Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Inpatient Rehab Unit
15 beds, staffed at capacity
Day Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Night Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Patient Ratios: Typically 5:1, maximum 6:1
Equipment: Vital signs machines, transfer equipment (Hoyer lift, sliding boards), EKG, bladder scanner
EMR Systems: Meditech, Pyxis

Job Responsibilities / Typical Procedures

Patient transfers
Bladder scans
Dressing changes
Medication administration

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas
BLS certification
Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in a specialty relevant to rehab nursing
Transfer training
EMR proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

Rehab experience
Rehab scoring documentation skills

Work Environment & Schedule

Floating assignments across Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units (excluding ICU)
Every other weekend and holiday shifts required
On-call duties are rare and depend on overall hospital census

Unit Culture & Expectations

Strong teamwork and initiative-taking attitude
Adherence to unit policies including bedside report/handoff, hourly rounding, and bed alarm activation
