Description

Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 11 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Rotation: Yes
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, expected to float within scope to like units as current staff nurses do; agency staff float first
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Local Travelers: Not accepted

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • CVICU experience of at least 1 year within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Not required for this facility if diploma/transcripts are not available; otherwise preferred
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
  • Work History Verification: Not required for this facility
  • Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days; T-spot not permitted) or chest x-ray if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for patient-facing staff
  • Radiation Badge: Required only for certain departments (not specified for CVICU)

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start is mandatory; estimated 4 hours for this location
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
  • Various signed acknowledgments and agreements required before start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Systems User Agreement)
  • Facility-specific COVID exemption form available for religious exemptions

Additional Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
  • Agency staff expected to float first before facility staff

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with cardiac and neuro experience who have prior travel contract experience and hold the appropriate South Carolina licensure and certifications.
