Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Burlington, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Location: Burlington, North Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Unit: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (patient population primarily Medical-Surgical)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Floating: Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Telemetry remote monitoring experience
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Completion and acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing requirements, including EKG and medication competency exams
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or training

Technology and Systems

  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system is required

Patient Care

  • Primarily Medical-Surgical patient population on a telemetry unit
  • Expected to manage patient care with a ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5-6 patients

Compliance and Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required for badge issuance
  • Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years required
  • Education verification required (Associate's degree in nursing or higher)
  • Drug screening (10-panel) required within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required, including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) required annually, with some exceptions
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (not typically for this role)

References and Work History

  • Two supervisory references required for clinical positions:
    • One reference from an assignment within 12 months prior to start
    • One reference from an assignment within 24 months prior to start
  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history required
  • Verification of employment for the last 5 years required

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, including telemetry monitoring skills, who are flexible and able to work in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment with floating responsibilities. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
