Mammography/Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Edwards, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (4x10 schedule)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Start Date: ASAP


Position Summary

Performs breast imaging procedures including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assists with breast ultrasound biopsy. Follows MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.


Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe radiation administration.
  • Review patient requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnosis and demographic information.
  • Operate mammography and stereotactic equipment, perform examinations, and follow protocols including use of contrast agents and sterile techniques.
  • Conduct and document quality control to ensure equipment safety per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
  • Communicate and educate patients before, during, and after procedures to support breast health and continuity of care.
  • Review and perform breast imaging exams for technical accuracy; present completed exams to radiologists and communicate relevant data to care providers.
  • Schedule breast imaging appointments and assist in coordinating exams to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Assist with department workflow management and ensure proper patient charge documentation.
  • Organize and monitor medical supply inventory to maintain cost-effective departmental spending.
  • Participate in breast health education and promotional events.
  • Assist in orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain 24 CEU credits every two years per A.R.R.T. guidelines and current CPR certification.
  • Adhere to HIPAA compliance and promote a Just Culture and organizational values.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Mammography Technologist license in Colorado
  • Minimum 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience within the last year
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification with Mammography (M)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Exposure to radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust, and stress.
  • Physical activity during workday:
    • Sitting: 20%
    • Standing: 40%
    • Walking: 20%
    • Squatting, bending, twisting, lifting: 5% each
  • Manual lifting up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Patient populations served include adolescents, young adults, adults, middle-aged, and geriatric patients.

Additional Information

  • Must maintain required licensure and certifications.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines independently or with others.
  • This position involves direct patient care.
