Job Description
- Position: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician
- Call requirements to be discussed during interview
- Locals accepted if living over 50 miles from the facility
- No pending licenses accepted
- Guaranteed hours: Allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Minimum experience required: 1+ year in specialty
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or ARC certified; RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable (check unit requirements)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify during onboarding)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a CVOR Technologist within the last year
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
- Valid state license appropriate for CVOR Tech role (no pending actions; verification within 30 days of start)
- Driver’s license required ASAP for computer access and must be carried on duty
- Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including alias and multi-state searches
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
Orientation & Training Requirements
- Completion of online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Pre-assignment testing (medication and EKG/arrhythmia tests) required within 72 hours of receiving login
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, plain background, no obstructions)
- Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
Additional Compliance & Competency Requirements
- Annual competency exams and training including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (if dispensing medication)
- Core training modules covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA bloodborne pathogens, patient rights, and ethical care
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication (for applicable roles)
- Documentation of all certifications and licenses must be current and verifiable
Experience & Travel Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Surgical Services or CVOR Tech specialty
