Job Opportunity: Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Start Date: April 27, 2026
Shift: 5 shifts, 8 hours each (08:00 - 16:30)


Job Description

  • Specialty: Pediatric Echocardiography (Echo Cardio Peds)
  • Patient Age Range: Neonates through Adults
  • Patient Diagnoses: Congenital and acquired pediatric cardiac disease
  • Number of Rooms: 3
  • Visits per Day: Approximately 8
  • On-call: Approximately once every 8 weeks
  • Holidays: Required as scheduled
  • Floating: Required within specialty and to other units/facilities within scope
  • Weekends: Not required
  • Scrub Color: Provided for OR; any pediatric-type scrub for non-OR

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
  • ARDMS RDCS AE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Adult Echocardiography)
  • ARDMS RDCS PE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Pediatric Echocardiography)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Additional certifications to have or be prepared to obtain as applicable:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Valid ARDMS certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience specifically in Pediatric Echocardiography

Experience

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Pediatric Echocardiography)
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum relevant experience in pediatric echo cardiography is required (recommend at least 1-2 years based on specialty)
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Government Issued Photo ID

  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start

  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • TDAP (required for units working with children)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
  • Flu Vaccine or Medical/Religious exemption (for 2025-26 season)
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking

Additional Requirements

  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted)
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, badge photo, dress code review, and others must be completed prior to start
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable

Work Environment and Expectations

  • Must be able to work on-call approximately once every 8 weeks
  • Floating within specialty and to other units/facilities as needed
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Weekends not required
  • Scrub color and dress code must be followed according to unit assignment

This position is ideal for a pediatric cardiac sonographer with appropriate certifications and experience, comfortable with on-call duties and working in a pediatric specialty setting.
