Job Opportunity: Cath IR Rad Tech - Interventional
Job Type
- Contractor
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Location
- Milwaukee, WI (Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Magnet Designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center)
Patient Population
- Adults only (no pediatrics)
- Department staffed 24/7
- Procedures include:
- General IR: kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty (not at night), central line/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filter, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoracentesis/paracentesis
- CT Room supported by IR: cryosurgery, CT biopsies, drains (not at night)
- AAA intervention experience preferred
- Neuro IR: strokes, embolization, DSA, WADA test, spinal angiography (not at night)
Patient Volume
- Approximately 40-50 patients per day
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Registered Technologist in Radiography (RT(R)) with ARRT certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Wisconsin state license
Required Skills and Experience
- Scrubbing and panning simultaneously during procedures
- Experience with General IR cases listed above
- Comfort with charging/coding for procedures preferred but not required
- Accepts travelers with 1 year of experience
- First-time travelers accepted if they have Interventional Radiology experience
Support and Team Structure
- Two coordinators (Receptionist/HUC)
- Two lead techs
- Two techs per exam room, sometimes three for involved cases
- Tech specialists available
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Hospitalist coverage 24/7
- CNA/Transporter support 24/7 (may assist with patient transport)
Technology and Equipment
- EMR: EPIC (experience preferred)
- IV pumps: Alaris
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- PACS: Change Healthcare
- Imaging equipment: Siemens and GE (experience preferred)
- Injector: MedRad
- Additional equipment (experience not required): IVUS, Ultrasound (GE), Laser, Bovie (for some port removals), Angiojet
Orientation
- 1-2 weeks with a preceptor, including competency check-off
Scheduling and Call
- Weekend rotation: call required
- On-call schedule for RT(R):
- Weekday call (Mon-Thurs): 1 call shift per week, end of shift until 7:00 AM next day
- Weekend call (Fri-Sun): once every 5th weekend, end of shift Friday until Monday 7:00 AM
- Call assignments:
- Neuro IR call only if traveler has Neuro IR experience
- Otherwise, General IR call only
- Travelers with both Neuro IR and General IR experience may be asked to cover both
- Response time for call: 30 minutes
- No call required if working overnight shift
- Shift times when on call:
- General IR: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Neuro IR: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Shift flexibility: manager open to adjusting shift lengths (e.g., four 10-hour shifts, two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts)
- Holiday work: currently no holidays required, but may be call only if needed
- Return to office (RTO) approval: up to 7 days allowed

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Wisconsin
- Interventional Radiology Technologist with at least 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- ARRT(R) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Cath Lab Technologist experience
