Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), occasional 3 PM - 3 AM shifts as needed
  • Coverage includes every other week (EOW) and holiday shifts as needed
  • No on-call required
  • Patient population includes special care for cancer, sepsis, medical emergencies, behavioral health, and all ages
  • Department specialties include cath lab, women's health, and stroke care
  • Facility requires passing a mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Stroke care experience

Licensure

  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card for badge issuance
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including criminal, sex offender, federal court, and education verification
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
  • Education verification: Associate's degree in nursing or higher required
  • High School Diploma/GED verification as applicable
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including health history and floating policy acknowledgment
  • Completion of Workday onboarding tasks including multi-factor authentication setup

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position
  • Special populations include cancer, sepsis, medical emergencies, and behavioral health patients
  • The position involves working in a fast-paced emergency room environment with diverse patient needs
