Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Neuro ICU
• Shift: Day/Night rotation, every other weekend (rotation every 4 weeks)
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), approximately 36 hours/week
• On-Call: Required
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:1 to 1:2
• Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Epic

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (highest required years of experience)
• Skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, intracranial pressure monitoring
• Certifications:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - AHA certified
• Preferred: Previous travel nursing experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system

Additional Requirements

• Onboarding documents including employment application and skills checklist
• Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
• Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate (must be completed prior to start and updated annually)
• Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; must be completed under specific code and may require renewal if there is a break in service over 90 days
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start

• Floating may require working in units with equivalent or lower acuity than Neuro ICU
• Parking permits available for purchase (details not included here)
• Final schedule and unit needs subject to manager confirmation during interview
