Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech - Ophthalmology
Employment Type: Contractor
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Job Description
Seeking a Surgical Tech with experience in Ophthalmology to support surgeries including cataract and retinal procedures. Additional surgical experience in orthopedics (carpal tunnel) and general surgeries (breasts/plastics) is beneficial.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Tech
- Experience with ophthalmology surgical procedures:
- Cataract surgery
- Retinal surgery
- Additional skills in orthopedic and general surgery procedures are a plus
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Work Environment & Support
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Operating Room beds: 4
- Support available from Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Manager
- Charting and equipment systems used: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
- No floating required
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation period: 1 week
- Schedule: 4-5 shifts per week, 8 hours each
- Variable start times between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM
- Weekend rotation: on call 1 weekend every 5 weeks
- Night shifts: 4 weeknights on call per 5 weeks
- Holiday coverage: 1 holiday on call per contract
- On-call response time: 30 minutes

- Surgical scrubs provided; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant
- Free parking and shuttle service available
- Food options on campus include Starbucks and cafeteria
- No call rooms available
- First-time travelers are welcome
