Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiology (Days)
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care and support to patients recovering from cardiac events, focusing on improving cardiovascular health. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized rehabilitation plans and educate patients on lifestyle changes that promote heart health.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver quality triage and patient care using strong assessment skills and point-of-care testing within the scope of nursing practice.
- Collaborate with clinicians to assess and establish care plans for complex patients, prioritizing patient and family needs.
- Manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions in a high-volume cardiology clinic setting.
- Manage patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) such as pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices, including in-clinic and remote device interrogations.
- Assist with pre- and post-procedure care for device implantation, including patient preparation, wound care, and complication monitoring.
- Administer and manage cardiac medications (anticoagulants, beta-blockers, antiarrhythmics, diuretics) and provide patient education on medication adherence and side effects.
- Educate patients and families on cardiovascular disease management, device function, activity restrictions, and lifestyle modifications.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in both in-person and remote monitoring workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license active in Vermont or Compact state.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Minimum of 3 years recent outpatient cardiology nursing experience.
- Cardiac skills checklist from within the last year.
- Resume listing all departments worked.
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cardiac device management (CIEDs).
- Acute care nursing experience.
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required.
Additional Information
- The position is located in a rural area with limited housing and public transportation options; candidates should plan accordingly.
- On-call and holiday shifts may be required.
- Locals within 50 miles are accepted.
