Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with 4-9 hour shifts, including call responsibilities on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a Cardiac Cath Lab with 6 suites/labs.
• Manage 4-20 cases per day, including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, congenital conditions, TAVR, MitraClip, and peripheral cases.
• Ability to read cardiac strips and titrate drips occasionally.
• Collaborate with a team including Cardiologists (on call 24/7), Cath Lab Techs (RTRs), and Charge Nurses.
• Participate in call rotations: 6-8 call shifts per month (primary and backup), weekend call every 6-7 weeks (24-hour shifts about once per month), and holiday call coverage.
• Follow unit-specific orientation (2-3 shifts).
• Use EMR system EPIC and equipment including GE and Philips monitors, McKesson.

Schedule

• 4 shifts per week, 9 hours each.
• Call shifts on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
• Weekend call shifts start Friday 5:30 PM and end Monday 6:00 AM.
• Occasional extended hours to complete emergent cases.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse license in Illinois (active or application in process).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.

Experience & Skills

• Prior experience in Cardiac Cath Lab nursing preferred.
• Ability to read cardiac strips and titrate drips.
• Experience with EPIC EMR and cardiac monitoring equipment is beneficial.
• No floating required; experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) is a plus but not mandatory.

• Call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty.
• Orientation hours (12 hours) are non-billable.
• Local candidates within 50 miles preferred.

Call & On-Call Details

• Cardiologists on call 24/7.
• Charge nurse available as resource and coordinator.
• Call teams consist of 3-4 members including RNs and RTRs.
• Backup call responsibilities included.
